October is gorgeous!  And it’s teeming with parallel exhibitions and cultural events. What an exciting environment to view and buy vital work from living artists and artisans– emerging, mid-career and established.

Founded in 2012- Paint Essex annual Plein Air moved from summer to fall to coincide with Cape Ann Plein Air in 2016

Founded in 2009- the Annual DoctoberFest Documentary Film Festival curated by Cape Ann Cinema & Stage (estab.2008) runs Oct 14-20. Busy schedule includes  3D Flight of the Monarch Butterflies co-hosted with Kestrel Educational Adventures and Screenagers co-hosted with Sawyer Free and evenings with filmmakers.

Founded in 1979- Gloucester Stage is world class professional American theater in our country’s oldest seaport. Premiering this month- Man in Snow, the newest play by Israel Horovitz through October 23rd. GMG Podcast

Founded in 1873- Cape Ann Museum is a top notch American art museum. The must see exhibit Design/Build closes October 9th. Voicing the Woods- Jeremy Adams, Instrument Maker opens October 20. Recent Acquisitions continues into December.

The Sawyer Free Library Art Auction is Heating up!

The Bid Book is filling up. Get a great deal on great artwork from some of Cape Ann’s Famous and emerging Artists.

Works of art will be displayed in the Adolph Matz Gallery, located in the main lobby of the library, and can be viewed by all that enter the library each day. Great interest in generated through the month as the bid book fills up. The final vocal auction is always an exciting event. In addition to funding art books, art DVDs, and a select number of museum passes, this year’s proceeds will support free art workshops for adults and children as well as an art movie series in the Fall and Winter.

The silent auction will take place in the Adolph Matz Gallery from August 26, to give visitors and opportunity  to see the paintings and bid early. The vocal auction will be held October 2 at 7:00 p.m. A preview party will precede the auction.

Sawyer Free Art Auction! Only a Few More Days Left!

This the last full week for bidding on the Paintings that are up for Auction at The Sawyer Free Library.

This is a great Video Joey did of last years Art Auction. It describes How the Silent bidding works at the Library Art Auction.

 

I usually Contribute a Traditional Cape Ann scene. This Year I entered a Bright Floral Painting. I was a little bummed out Saturday when I checked the Bid Book. So far there are no bids on it. Bidding on the Painting starts a $50.00.

Even If it doesn’t sell I Have the perfect spot for it. it will be my Xmas gift to myself.
