GHS 1961 Freshmen Football Team
The count I heard passing the Gloucester High School athletes going strong at summer conditioning… How many jumping push ups do they go up to?
Beautiful effort and gym
These coaches and kids show up Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays and really dig in. The Volunteer coaches today were Zach Smith and Kyle. Michael Lattoff (sp?) is retiring and started this boot camp 30+ years ago. I marvel at the dedication of volunteer coaches.
My piping plover watch shift overlaps with this session. Good Harbor Beach piping plovers are conditioning alongside these hardworking athletes. The birds have to be well and strong for migration; zipping about the beach is no picnic.
Tough drills start low and use the ocean, too
Former GHS athletes Gilbert Brown and Michael Tomaino are two of four from their class at Gloucester that have been selected to be captains of their football teams at the college level this year. That is truly unbelievable! The other two are Jordan Shairs at Curry and Chris Unis at Merrimac. I have no knowledge of this ever happening before and all these young men, along with their parents and former coaches should be proud of what they have accomplished.
GHS Football rolls over Danvers 49-22 in last game of a good season. A real team effort with six different players scoring touchdowns!!
