FRIDAY THE 13TH FULL HARVEST MOON #GLOUCESTERMA #SCHOONER

Friday the 13th full moon through the masts of the Schooner Liberty Clipper

A flock of birds flew by…

and then a butterfly flew by (not really, but doesn’t this bird look like it could be a butterfly?).

#supermoon MARCH FULL WORM MOON RISING OVER TWIN LIGHTS ROCKPORT

Hoping to capture the Supermoon, in all its huge glory, rising between the Twin Lights last night, but the sky was pink and hazy around the horizon line. Still, I think it’s good to have a record of a rarely occurring full moon on the first day of spring.

EXQUISITE FROST MOON AND ST. ANN STEEPLE

Everything lined up timing-wise early morning the day after Thanksgiving. The sky was clear and bright and that too made for perfect moon-viewing. Despite the wind and bitterly cold temperature, it was beautiful to see. After watching the moon descend over St. Ann, I walked further up the harbor and found a few more moon photos.

While out for an early evening walk with our pooch tonight I was unexpectedly delighted to catch the full Wolf Moon rising over the back shore. I wonder whose house that is on Niles and if they knew the moon was rising so picture perfect above their home.full-moon-wolf-moon-brace-cove-gloucester-seals-cape-ann-copyright-kim-smithBrace Cove Harbor Seals lolling about under the moonlight on this unseasonably warm evening

Blue Moon

This first shot is actually from Thursday evening, several hours before the precise full moon:

On Friday night, the “blue moon” put on a real show, playing hide-and-seek through the clouds:

Happy Independence Day!

Photos taken of the fireworks last night, from my perch on the roof of the rectory:

Special thanks and prayers for all the men and women who have served their country to help protect and defend our freedom!

Besides the fireworks, what a beautiful moon we had last night…

Moonrise behind Our Lady of Good Voyage

On my way to an appointment yesterday evening, I saw this amazing view. I turned my car around on Prospect St. and parked in order to snap this shot – and met another photographer who had done exactly the same thing at the same spot (we ended up parked one behind the other, and shooting from the same spot on the sidewalk…).
