If so, have them join us for two action packed weeks at Gloucester Stage!
Harborlight will be spending two full weeks learning all there is to know about the world of theatre at Gloucester Stage Company. At the end of the two weeks they will perform an original show. Thanks to the amazing team at Gloucester Stage and Harborlight’s Performing Arts Director, Katie Oberlander, students will have the opportunity to learn what it takes to pull off a professional production….from soup to nuts.
Earlier this week teams from both organization met to structure the week. So many exciting components are in the works and the two-week session promises to be one that these students never forget.

Harborlight Players, grades 4-8
This two-week course takes students to Gloucester Stage Company (GSC) for an intensive experience in theatre production, on stage and backstage. In addition to acting, students participate in all aspects of production, including box office management, lighting and set design, auditions and casting, costumes and props. Actors, assistant directors, stage managers, designers, and marketing and sales are all part of what it takes to stage an original production, which is what the students do on the GSC stage as the culmination of their theatre experience.

Harborlight Montessori had a really great FUNdraising event last night at the Flatbread Company in Salem.
The families who came early in the evening had the opportunity to bowl in the Derby Lanes and then the school filled every single table in the place for a wonderful community building and fundraising event. The proceeds of the evening will go to benefit Harborlight’s amazing Performing Arts Department and, specifically, the school’s March 29th performance of Willy Wonka, Jr.
If you haven’t been to the Flatbread Company, you should really make a point of it! This was my first time at this location and I look forward to going back. I got the Jimmy’s Free Range Chicken Pizza….really amazing.
Jimmy’s Free-Range Chicken Pizza– Oven roasted free-range chicken, black beans, organic cilantro tomatoes, roasted corn, mozzarella and Parmesan cheese and sour cream lime drizzle and some jalapeño peppers (if you want)
The rustic and funky decor, cool bar, and warm weather outdoor seating….in addition to the yummy drinks and delicious pizza will definitely get me back there!
If you follow any of what I write here on Good Morning Gloucester you’ll know that every once in a while I take advantage of the opportunity to sing from the mountaintops about how much I love the school where I am fortunate to work….and where the boys have attended since 5 months old.
Well, this time I’m singing praises about singing….singing for peace.
Harborlight Montessori was thrilled to light a candle for peace at 9:30 in the morning on International Peace Day, along with Montessori schools across our country, to help Sing Peace Around the World. By joining our voices with those from schools all over the United States we helped carry the music and message of peace off our shores and across the Atlantic Ocean where schools in Africa and Europe then took over. Peace was ultimately sung all across the world. May those sentiments continue on in the hearts of all.
