Once in a while, when good people work together, something wonderful arises. That’s what you can expect on Saturday at the Queen Treatment Only Music Festival co-produced by award-winning Boston vocal powerhouse Ruby Rose Fox in partnership with us at gimmeLIVE.
Our vision was to bring the area’s top female artists together for one show on the same stage for an extraordinary night of music. Ruby has chosen a stellar lineup for what the press are calling a “groundbreaking” show (see videos of all artists here). Of course, no North Shore festival lineup would be complete without Gloucester’s Chelsea Berry!
Tickets are only $20 in advance GET THEM HERE ($30 at the door). ALL AGES festivals like this can pave the way for the next generation of girls and women to make independent music without apologies, fear or rules. Bring your friends for a one-of-a-kind musical experience you won’t see anywhere else!
Just in case you don’t know Chelsea, here’s a taste of some of her music:

Meet Chelsea Berry
Chelsea Berry is a singer/songwriter with incredible edge, power, and finesse. Her presence has been described by listeners as “compelling… she draws the entire house into her world like moths to a flame.” Born and raised in Alaska, she now makes her home on Boston’s North Shore.
A favorite among venue owners up and down the East coast, Chelsea’s commanding stage presence and energetic rock/folk/pop sound has begun bringing her across the U.S. as regular support for Livingston Taylor as well as headliner of her own shows from California to Washington, Minneapolis, New York, and everywhere in between.
Along with her solo shows, Chelsea frequently supports artists such as Chris Isaak, Jonathan Edwards, Jon Butcher, Chris Smither, Cheryl Wheeler, Marshall Crenshaw, Patty Larkin, and many others.
Our friend Aurelia Nelson just keeps the local stars coming on her fascinating North Shore 104.9 radio show Curtain Up and tomorrow (Sunday) is no exception. Local singer/songwriters Chelsea Berry and Bang-A-Song Studio owner Tony Goddess will be Aurelia’s guests. Worth getting up to listen in at 9am!
Here’s an example of the excellent results Chelsea & Tony got collaborating on Chelsea’s latest solo CD:
Can’t say we didn’t warn you right here …
Do you really want to be the schmuck who says, “What? We can’t get in? Really?” Of course not. So stop what ever you’re doing and get your tickets right here, right now! (Forget what the poster says about tickets at the door. There won’t be any.)
Hey… Let’s Rock The Boat!
Join us for Rock The Boat, on Friday, November 7, 2014, 6:30-9:30pm at the Arts at the Armory, 191 Highland Avenue, Somerville, MA 02143. This fundraiser is a benefit for Northwest Atlantic Marine Alliance (NAMA), www.namanet.org.
For almost 20 years NAMA has been rocking the boat! We’ve been shaking up the systems, policies, processes, markets and narratives that are dominating fishery policies and marine conservation. Rock The Boat is NAMA’s first benefit event featuring, art, food, education, and an auction. The evening will be joined by singer-songwriter Chelsea Berry and the Bob Marley tribute band, Hope Road.
Dance to the music of singer-songwriter Chelsea Berry and groove to the tunes of Bob Marley tribute band Hope Road. Enjoy food provided by supportive restaurants and hospitals – yes we said hospitals! – creating delicious bites using regional sea and land food. Snack on vegetarian raviolis rolled out all night by Joe Gatto of “From Scratch” TV. Imbibe on some local beer, wine and healthy sodas. Learn from thoughtful chefs. Take part in a silent auction. Celebrate our living fishing economies. And support our efforts to keep rocking the boat!
If you can’t make it, buy a ticket for someone who can but can’t afford it by checking the “Rock the Boat Without Me!” ticket box. We’ll prioritize distributing those tickets to fishing community advocates.
See you November 7th! Come Rock the Boat with us!
Rock the Boat aims to fund programs in continuing the work of NAMA to:
- Promote taking control of the seafood in our food system
- Increase awareness about racial equity, economic justice, and food access
- Celebrate the work of community-based fishermen everywhere
- Inform fisheries policy makers about the importance of support for community-based, independent fishermen and their families
- Advocate for small and medium scale fishermen
- Support food workers along the entire food chain

Chelsea is back from a her national tour and will be performing Friday (7/25) at Cape Ann Marina’s Waterfront Pavilion (the BIG tent). There are still seats available and you can get tickets here.
We know we live in a very special music community when someone who made her name in Gloucester comes back from a national tour and remembers where she got her start by appearing on local radio and performing in local venues.
Aren’t you glad you live here?
Just in case you don’t know who Chelsea Berry is, check out this video of her at Shalin Liu:

On a side note, I want to take the opportunity to sincerely thank you all for the support you have shown me since moving to Gloucester. Six years ago I began playing open mics at Cameron’s, the Pleasant St. Tea Company, the Rhumb Line, Dog Bar… now most of my shows are in listening rooms and out of state! I’ve worked hard to get here but there is no question in my mind that there is no way I’d be where I am in my career if it weren’t for you. The support system that Gloucester offers to musicians is something truly unique and amazing. It really is because of you that all of these wonderful opportunities have come my way… so thank you, thank you, thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Really hope to see you all on July 25!!
With support from Cape Ann Coffees, Fish City Capital, and North Shore 104.9, the show will take place on the historic Gloucester waterfront under the event tent at Cape Ann Marina’s Mile Marker One.

Local favorites, Renée and Joe, will perform a special opening set.
There are 2 seating options: General admission traditional concert configuration or very limited, VIP cabaret table seating for 4 guests at the front of the stage for the most intimate concert experience.
Tickets are limited, so act early to ensure your spot at what will be Cape Ann’s hottest concert of the summer.
Tickets on sale starting at noon on Sunday, May 25th at http://chelseaberry.brownpapertickets.com/
Thanks, to everyone who came out to support Gloucester’s UU Church Meetinghouse Restoration last Saturday — and especially to 3rian King, Chelsea Berry, Renee Dupuis, Joe Cardoza, Brendan Burns, Meff & Dennis Monagle, who delivered a stellar performance that had the crowd swaying and singing to “All You Need Is Love!”
Next Saturday we change it up a bit and ROCK THE MEETINGHOUSE with Martha’s Vineyard-based, six-piece ENTRAIN, featuring founder/drummer Tom Major and lead singer/guitar wiz Brian Alex, for their only North Shore concert this spring. As Entrain’s conga/djembe/trombonist Sam Holmstock says, “The most important thing that we try to do with our music is bring everybody together in the spirit of peace, love, fun and a ton of drums!” Nothing more to say, really. Just watch the video (get tickets here)
