      1. Thank you so much for that. What a talent Dave has. My niece is #7. They have had it tough this season, and they try so hard! These pictures mean the world to us! I will thank Dave for his valuable time the next time I see him!

  4. I am very interested in building your fenway park model. My sons and I are all redsox fans and we though this was awsome when we saw it. We were wondering if you would be willing to share your block requirements and blueprint so we can order our own set from Lego.

Thank you very much for your consideration and time. Philip Jones

  6. Thanks Joe for GMG
The site is a big part of my day….

We went to a gloucester concert at the Universalist Church on Friday night. The group is called
Overboard and they were really amazing…
Acapella – fun – only $10 and they are going to do
a concert for the next three nights.

I don’t do this often but ….this is something
not to be missed. The founder of the group has a Gloucester girlfriend and told some fun stories about
how much he loves her Gloucester grandpa.

  7. Hi,
Does anyone at Good morning Gloucester have a clue of who all the winners of the Horribles Parade were. My daughter was Pippi Longstocking and we would like to know if she won or not. No posts yet in the GD Times, and I can not get a hold of Al Kipp the Parade Chair, any help? Please get back to me by e-mail. My name is Caroline Connolly.
    thanks

  8. Hi my name is Kim I am the owner of The Studio Lounge & Deck on Rocky Neck Ave. I’d like to invite you down to The Studio for a meal and talk about doing an interview with myself about the restaurant. So many people don’t realize that I have a deck out back that seats 121 ppl. plus a cabana bar that seats about 15. I saw your interview with Joe Thomas my former Piano player that now owns Guiseppes and I thought it was great. So i thought I would write to you and invite you down to The Studio. Thanks, Kim Hope to hear from you!

Just a fantastic community service you do for our Gloucester. Love the blog and keep up the good work!

Now, if you could only come down to Rocky Neck this evening to capture Divine and John Waters distributing flyers for next week’s Beaux Arts Ball that would be *the* best.

  15. Joe,

You and the ‘Community Built…’ Gloucester Lobster Trap tree have our vote. We are traveling north up to Houlton, Maine on Christmas Eve day and were looking to stop at one of the seaport towns to see a lobster trap tree.

Both the beauty of the Gloucester Community Built tree, the spirit and love that went into it, and the utter and unquestionable fairness of the on-line poll have convinced us (wink, nod) that we must stop in Gloucester to see the tree.

What a great tongue and cheek blog.

    See you then.

    Merry Christmas

    Thank you…

  16. My Dad purchased the Oceanside Hotel at Magnolia in 1931. I was 6 at the time. He kept it until 1946. Dad had no idea how to operate a hotel, having most previous experience in the building business. When the 1929 depression hit he was out of building and just happened to acquire the Oceanside by what he called “trading cats for dogs.” He and Mom learned quickly, and within a few years a guest suggested that they journey down to Thomasville, GA and have a look a winter resort inn there. They liked what they saw and purchased the inn. Each year for the next 11 years they thrived on the resort hotel business–the Oceanside at Magnolia in the summer, and the Three Toms Inn at Thomasville in the winter, Needless to say I cam to really love growing up in the business. Then came WW II and changes in all family’s lives.

Magnolia and the Oceanside, in particular, will always remain as a fond memory.

    1. Hello Joe, Just came upon my note to you as you published it. I’m approaching the completion of nine decades, and those early times–while fading a bit–still comprise a great part of “the good times” of my life. Thanks for the job you do in keeping those times alive for many of us!

That is the beauty of the internet — it gives voice….. get behind that idea, and leave your ridiculous negativism on your own doorstep.”

  22. Hi, my family and I are new to Cape Ann. I am wondering if anyone knows of Italian Classes offered for children. My boys 4 and 6yrs currently attend in the North End, and the classes are wonderful, but it’s getting increasingly difficult to get them there every week. Something closer would be so much better. Thank you for any info.
