Hammond Castle Museum is hosting an opening reception on Friday, September 6th at 7pm for our very special Mariano Fortuny exhibit.

Optimized-Fortuny At Hammond Castle Museum Dress Front low res.jpgJoin us on September 6th to be one of the first to view two rare, Mariano Fortuny gowns and to celebrate their addition to the Hammond Castle Museum Collection. Head Archivist Alana Rooke will speak about the discovery and identification of these special garments,  any necessary restoration and preservation efforts and their connection to Hammond Castle Museum.
Fortuny at The Castle:
It’s not every day one discovers vintage couture tucked away in a closet! Two gowns  were neatly folded on a shelf in Irene’s closet for decades. Both garments, dating between 1920 and 1930, are velvet tabard gowns in Fortuny’s “Eleonora” Renaissance style and feature the famous pleating. These couture gowns will be on display from September 6th to the 27th.  Nowhere else in the United States are any Fortuny gowns on public display.
Tickets to the opening reception are $15 each and can be purchased at: https://www.hammondcastle.org/event/fortuny-at-hammond-castle-museum-exhibit-opening/ The reception begins at 7pm and will end by 9pm. on the 6th of September.
