Quote of the Week – David Viscott

Viscott

“To love and to be loved is to feel the warmth of the sun from two directions.”

David Viscott (1938 – 1996)

A Dorchester native, Viscott graduated from Dartmouth College, trained in psychiatry at Tufts Medical School, and taught at University Hospital in Boston. He had a successful practice and began writing books, but left his first wife after 17 years, and four children, and moved to Los Angeles to pursue Katherine Random, whom he later married. In California he began a radio program taking calls and dispensing advice live on air, then a novel practice. His combination of gently eliciting the details of callers problems and then giving tough-love advice garnered him huge audiences.  His newfound fame allowed him to charge $1500 an hour, and he claimed he could cure anyone in just four sessions. His need for adulation was his ultimate downfall. He became estranged from his wife and children, and died alone at age 58 from heart disease and complications of diabetes.

I like to send good old fashioned cards still, even in this digital age….but I’m not always that great at it if I have to make a trip to Walgreens, then I don’t always have postage on hand…whatever the excuse.   But not too long ago I received a special postcard in the mail after a fun girls weekend with a picture of all of us and I just loved it!   My friend Maureen sent it using the “Ink” app for iPhone, iPad or android.  I know you are thinking it’s kind of impersonal to use an app to send a sentiment but I would totally disagree….it’s ever MORE personal because you’ve put a fun photo or memory on there and you can type in exactly what you want to say on the back.    They come in postcard for or folded and you can add an envelope to your order.   They print it, put postage on it and send it for you all from the comfort of your own home for about the same price of a hallmark card.   While I would probably never send a sympathy card this way….you can do invites, thank you cards, birthday, anniversary, graduation, baby….tons of options!   Now you will be looking for people to send cards too!!  Have fun! The Dodging of the Balls

Joey and Frankie made sure all the balls, large and small, were hard.

Rubber Duck was not the only one who could not turn away.

What happened next was epic. Maybe Craig caught it on film. Mister F. U. socks has unloaded a 97 mph fastball that misses the mark. The high cheese is high but do you see the two with the Red Solo cups not paying attention? Yeah, that's what happens. Like a trick pool shot the ball first hits her in the face then heads on over to finish off the dude. Epic launching of two beers into the air.

Epic launching of three beers into the air like a three Stooges finale.
