MONARCH DAY! STARRING THE EAST GLOUCESTER NEIGHBORHOOD GANG

Pilar Monarch Day ©Kim Smith 2015Pilar has started a new fashion trend, Monarchs as hair accessory.

Enchanted by Monarchs!  We had a fantastic day filmmaking, thanks to Emma, Pilar, Frieda, Annie Kate, Lotus, April, Elijah, Esme, Charlie, Atticus, and last but not least, Meadow. And an extra huge thank you to all the moms and dads for not minding the early morning wake up calls and texts to let the kids know the butterflies were emerging! I was tied up filming and so wish I’d taken more stills.

Live Cook: Large Shrimp Wrapped In #Bacon On The @STOKGrills Charcoal Drum #GetStoked

The Homie Cast

Follow along this evening at http://www.thehomiecast.com for live updates on this cook!

First up I’m going to split up a pound of bacon into thirds and will set up the STOK Drum for offset smoking around 225 degrees for about an hour. I started my coals and pushed them to one side of the grill and tossed a hunk of apple wood on for smoke. The bacon is placed on the opposite side of the grate from the charcoal. The idea is to partially cook the bacon because the shrimp will cook quickly and we want the bacon to finish around the same time once they are wrapped so the shrimp don’t dry out and get rubbery.

While the bacon is smoking I put the wooden skewers we’ll be using in water so they don’t burn up once they’re on the grill. You’ll want to soak them for at least…

SPRING CLEANING TIME

OK, so it’s not spring, but it is time for a good cleaning.

In an effort to simplify my photographic life, I have decided to reduce the size of my photography kit.

I am offering for sale three great cameras that I have used over the past several years. You have seen their images and videos many times here on GMG. They are all in excellent shape and in full operating order.

PANASONIC GX 7 –  $525.00

This is a mirrorless, micro four thirds system 16MP digital camera. It features full HD video recording, tilting EVF and touchscreen, in-camera stabilization, built-in flash, wireless connectivity and tough magnesium body. It is compact and light and is perfect for travel and street photography.

The 20 mm f1.7 lens is outstanding. It allows for wonderful low light shooting and moody blurred background images. This is a micro four thirds lens, so double the focal length (20mm)to determine the full frame 35 mm equivalent (40mm).

FUJI X E1 –  $525.00

This inter-changeable lens camera is for the photo enthusiast or pro looking for a compact unit that produces photos of amazing quality. It is intuitive to use with as much or as little manual control as you desire. It has been superseded by the X-E2, but remains in high demand. Comes complete in original box, with battery charger, extra battery, cables and owner’s manual. There is a tiny ding that is barely noticeable.

  • 16.3MP APS-C X-Trans CMOS Sensor
  • EXR Image Processor
  • 2.8″ 460k-Dot LCD Monitor
  • 2.36m-Dot OLED Electronic Viewfinder
  • Full HD 1080p Video Recording at 24 fps
  • TTL Contrast-Detection Autofocus
  • Up to 6 fps Shooting and ISO 25600
  • Film Simulation Modes
  • Magnesium Alloy Body

XF 18-55mm f/2.8-4 R LM OIS Lens (27-82 mm full frame 35mm equivalent) is the only lens I used on this camera. It renderS sharp and clear images and is image stabilized.

Like new HCX 920 Panasonic HD camcorder. Included are: 2 battery chargers, 2 EXTRA batteries, 6:9 lens hood (plus the original small hood),original CDs, manual, cables, cloth bag, shoe adapter and original paperwork and box.

This is an extremely versatile camcorder for experienced and beginner shooters alike. Settings run the gamut from fully automatic to completely manual. (Takes decent stills, but if that is your interest, I recommend either of the other two cameras I have for sale.) Choose from 6 resolution settings, enjoy excellent in camera image stabilization and these additional features:

The WiFi-enabled X920 3MOS BSI Pro HD video camcorder offers the utmost in shooting flexibility. Enjoy professional grade HD video you can share from anywhere. supportive day care speaks

I personally can vouch for the incredible gift the Supportive Day Care Program is to both the participating seniors and their caregivers.  We are extremely fortunate to have this program and service available for elders and caregivers in our community.  If you have an elderly friend or family member that could benefit from socialization and a loving, fun environment out of the home, or a caregiver who could use some respite, check out the Supportive Day Care Program, or any of the many wonderful daily offerings at the Rose Baker Senior Center.

Crazy Amounts of Handsome

It has come to my attention that I might possibly write about my boys too much.  True, not true…either way, that’s how I roll these days and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

But, since it can’t always be about scenic photographs, family activities, and super cute kids (I may be biased)…..let’s talk about super cute football players this morning instead.

There’s been a ton of talk lately about Tom Brady, the Patriots, Deflategate, Spygate, and the whatnot.  But, I think it is time we get to the meat of the matter (ahem).

The amount of handsome in the QB column of the Patriots roster is kind of crazy.  It almost seems unfair.  I don’t know how the other teams even concentrate.  Kidding, kind of.

So, the question that arose last night is:

Football skills aside, Who is your #1?

Patriots longtime Quarterback Tom Brady #12 OR the Patriot Quarterback (2nd round 2014 Draft Pick) Jimmy Garoppolo #10.

Maybe something a little less “mugshot” will help you….

9/11 tribute at City Hall

Hi Joey!  I was hoping you would let all the good people who like me read your blog.
My husband will be putting up his 9/11 memorial this year in Gloucester City Hall.  Dan survived 9/11 on that devastating day as he was on the 74th floor where he worked for the Port Authority of NY and NJ. At that time we resided in Bergen County NJ, but since over to Gloucester 3 years ago
This can be viewed at the Great Hall on Friday until 12:30 as City Hall closed early on Fridays. Thanks
Brenda Leahy
