Please Act Now

We at GMG understand the power of photographs. They can make us laugh, think and appreciate the beauty all around us. Photos can make us feel nostalgic, adventurous or secure.

Photographs can also bring us out of our comfort zones to document and confront the sometimes hideous realty of life in a world torn by war, natural disaster and disease. We have all read of the current ebola epidemic that is devastating West Africa, but the horror of that plague is sometimes softened by the distance between us and the festering cities, villages and remote areas where disease is rampant.

Today’s New York Time features a photo and story that brings it all home. The photo is not pleasant, but it forces us to understand the magnitude of what is happening and the need for immediate and massive assistance. Let the image of that 4 year old girl in her brightly colored dress, lying near death on the excrement covered floor of of a hospital that can offer no aid remind us that we must help.

Please contribute today. There are dozens of trustworthy organizations that are on the ground and ready to provide this desperately needed assistance.

Sorry Paul, but Coywolfs, Wolfoties, Coyotes Do Not Shit in the Woods

coyotes do not shit in the woods

Well I’m sure they sometimes do, but on my morning walks along East Main Street and Eastern Point I quite often see coyote poop in the middle of the road. I always wonder what that is about. I agree that most wild animals do their doo in the woods, which is natural for them to do. Does anyone have any thoughts on why the coyotes seem to prefer the middle of the road? I think they do it to spite us – sort of a coyote’s way of saying: “FU humans for taking over and destroying my habitat and then trying to run me away when I eat your tasty little cats and dogs that you leave out unattended as easy prey.” Or maybe they’re saying: “If you humans are going to mess up my bathroom with your dog poop in plastic bags, I’ll just go out here in the road.” What do you think it means, if anything?

Amongst Friends

I’m so sad that our own Joey C. must have snuck off to the bathroom just before I snapped this pic.   He was commiserating with these fellow Jeter fans about the end of an era, but needed to excuse himself to get composed after some tears were shed.

On another note, Tasty Burgers are indeed T.A.S.T.Y.   I had the Gorgonzola Burger (fantastic) and a super yummy Whale’s Tale from Nantucket’s own Cisco Brewery.  Ok….maybe 2 Whale’s Tales.

So, baseball is over for another 188 days….or a mere 142 if you start counting back from when pitchers and catchers report to Spring Training…and Jeter is gone. BUT…Tasty Burger is still there, and if you haven’t been there for some indulgent grub, you’re missing out a bit.

Clothing Optional? Yay or Nay

nude-beaches-logo

I’ll be Heading to the Tropics on ASSignment for GMG for the next week. I’ll be Traveling up and down the west coast of Florida checking out the Clothing optional Beaches to see if we can accommodate one here on Cape Ann.

The question I was asked the most by tourists this Summer was “Where’s the nude beach?”

Look for me and my in-depth Posts all week.

A Question For Litter Lady and Donna ardizzoni (and whoever else wants to chime in)

In regards to the expanded bottle bill which would include water bottles, juice bottles, when you are doing your Community Clean Ups what do you find to be the worst litter items?

I have a theory that after cigarette butts, that it be styrofoam cups and plastic bags that get blown around in the wind, followed by plastic water and juice bottles that lay fallow since there’s no deposit on them.

So Donna, focus on the question, if you have time respond in the comment section to this post in list form what you see as the number

Worst litter items around town?

Not only am I all in on the expansion of the bottle bill but I’d be all in for banning styrofoam coffee cups for take out and a 2 cent plastic bag at the grocery store.

Here’s yesterday’s Bottle Bill Post-
