Beer and Cheese Pairing at Savour Wine and Cheese

On Friday Feb. 1, Savour Wine and Cheese had a Beer and Cheese Pairing event!  They had a variety of cheeses and beers available for tasting, and a sheet for you to mark what you thought were the best pairings.  If you identified all the same pairings as the store’s expert, you got a gift certificate!  Also, all the featured beers and cheese were on sale %20 off.

I stopped by at the beginning of the event.  I didn’t try the beer because I had to drive right afterwards, but I did try the cheeses, which were all very tasty. I ended up buying a cheese called “Red Dragon”, a Welsh cheddar made with ale and mustard seeds – really good, with a distinctive flavor! Here are some photos I got before the crowd arrived (I only had time to be there at the beginning when there were only a couple of people, but more were arriving as I left).

Quote of the Week by Greg Bover

“Sometimes I sits and thinks, and sometimes I just sits.”

Leroy Robert “Satchel” Paige (1906 – 1982)

Perhaps the greatest pitcher of all time, Paige, an African-American from Mobile, Alabama, was not allowed into Major League Baseball until 1948 when he was 42 years old, the oldest “rookie” ever. He began his professional career in 1926 and pitched for numerous teams in the segregated Negro Leagues, gaining fame not only for his throwing prowess, but also for his ebullience and love of the game. Even at his advanced age he was elected to the All-Star team twice and was finally inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1971 at the urging of Ted Williams and others. Among his other famous sayings: “How old would you be if you didn’t know how old you are?

So Muffy Has Regained The Lead In Our Manchester Athletic Club MyZone Fitness Challenge. How You Ask?

I had no idea she’s go so deep into the archives of rogue fitness routines to try to pull out the win but apparently nothing is beneath Muffy when she competes.

My Manchester Athletic Club Spy Cam caught her top secret workout regimen which has propelled her over me in the standings-

The really cool thing is that even though I’m on vacation I can strap on my fitness band and it will record up to 16 hours of my workouts even if I’m away from the MAC.

I’d much rather work out at the MAC but as soon as I pop back in to the club all the data from my workouts away from the MAC will be uploaded to the servers and tabulated (don’t ask me how it works, it just does).

The challenge and this MyZone band has totally motivated me to take my workouts up a notch.

I’ll be experimenting with Muffy’s rogue workout regimen once I get back into town.  On that you can be sure.
