Did You Know? (Smoked Bluefish Pate’)

That in addition to being a molecular biology scientist at Dana Farber, a serious contender for the Blackburn Challenge and personal trainer for Ed Collard, and R. Duck’s matchmaker, Paul Morrison also makes a really mean smoked bluefish pate’?  He caught the bluefish himself, and then made it into this amazing pate’ which he brought to this week’s Mug Up, in one of his beautiful collection of handmade nut bowls (or pate’ bowls, or cracker bowls, or candy bowls), which we also now have available to purchase at Khan Studio and the Good Morning Gloucester Gallery.  You can see from the photo that it was immediately tested by Ed Collard before I could get the shot (ok, I admit, I was testing it too).

  1. No, I don’t think of it as traditional breakfast fare, but it worked just fine. I love fish, but am not big on bluefish, but that pate’ was awesome. Joey stopped by awhile ago and had some, and he thought it was great too. And Paul’s ceramic bowls make a very nice addition to the gallery too!

  2. Yikes, gotta make some corrections here. Remove the serious in front of the Blackburn Challenge. My Challenge is to make it around the island and under the greasy pole before the serious contenders drain the keg. I was successful last year and I believe Ed and I can pull that off again. Oh, and I did catch the bluefish (off Woods Hole, they aren’t up here yet) and smoked it but my wife whipped up the pate. Secret ingredient is a touch of Wild Turkey Whiskey as well as lemon, green onions and Philadelphia Brand Cream Cheese. I must say it was awesome when stuffed in the pie-hole along with a deviled egg. I did that more than a few times to make sure.

The rest of the story is totally accurate 😉

Right now I am in a slip in Falmouth Harbor borrowing wireless from McDougalls’ boatyard and at 4AM off to bluefin tuna land with high school buddies. I am not being told where exactly we are going but I will dream of sushi.

  3. Apologize to Susan for me – didn’t mean to give away her credit for that amazing pate’. I still think of you and Ed as serious contenders, if only for completing the Challenge, which I’m sure you both will, and before the keg and pulled pork sandwiches are all gone. Hope you get another blue – the pate’ is all gone and Wendie was bummed, as it is her favorite thing in the world.
