I have yet to be to a Gloucester Block Party, but this is how Joey C showed up to the Hamilton Community Block Party. The way he was selling the outfit, it was as if he was getting referrals for each lavish robe everyone bought from Restoration Hardware. He was later seen chanting as he left the party.
if you are one of my peeps, I want you on board with us!!!! Get on the phone, leave a message for Kay if you have to and have her call you back to reconfirm that you have a spot. It’s gonna be great!!!!!
What is normally a $40 plus sail on the Lannon without all the extras into a Sail on the most beautiful boat in the harbor (The Thomas Lannon), a killer Ryan and Wood Folly Cove Rum drink and two tastings from Bobby Ryan’s personal exclusive collection of rare rums, AND two cigars from the Old Cuban Cigar Factory.
Hey, what can I say, we like to give back and believe me all these fantastic local businesses bent over backwards to make sure that this is a night we’ll all remember. Seating is limited to 42 people so it will be first come, first serve basis as far as tickets go.
If you are a FOB I want you sailing with us. We settled on the perfect date July 14th. I figure it will be a nice warm dry evening for the perfect sail.
You’re still reading this???? You should have already been dialing Kay at the Lannon ticket office to reserve your ticket-

Pam Courtleigh and Cheryl Curran (hat) are living in Rockport under the witness protection program (hence the stickas over their faces and the ficticious names). They came out of hiding and made the long and trecherous journey from Rockport to Gloucester to get the new Version 5.0 Good Morning Gloucester sticker and visit the gallery. Friends of Good Morning Gloucester are such amazing and brave people.
That today is Violet Gray’s 40th birthday? And she baked this awesome pineapple upside down cake and brought it over this morning for Mug Up at the gallery. Those of you who were here, got a great treat – those of you who weren’t, missed this amazing, still warm out of the oven pineapple upsidedown cake that was to die for. Thanks so much Violet, especially for doing this on your birthday, when you should have been home being pampered by Corey, not slaving over a hot oven (although it is so cold today that you probably really enjoyed hanging out by the oven). Good Morning Gloucester FOB’s just rock diggity, and the Madfish Wharf neighbors are awesome.
Violet writes in with the recipe-
Pineapple Upside Down Cake
A throwback to the 1920s, also known as a Spider or Skillet Cake (cooked in a cast iron skillet).
1/4 cup margarine or butter
2/3 cup packed brown sugar
1 can sliced pineapple
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup granulated sugar
1/3 cup shortening (I use butter)
3/4 cup milk
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
Heat oven to 350˚ Heat butter in 10 inch skillet until melted. Sprinkle brown sugar over butter. Arrange pineapple slices in skillet.
Beat remaining ingredients on low speed 30 seconds scraping bowl constantly. Beat on high speed 3 minutes, scraping bowl occasionally. Pour over fruit in skillet. Bake skillet 45-50 minutes/until it passes toothpick test. Immediately invert onto plate (careful the brown sugar butter mix tends to drip over the sides and its HOT)! Let skillet remain over cake a few minutes. Serve warm and add anything you desire, whipped cream or not! ENJOY.
We will bring you down to show you what it’s like in the fish hold of a dragger in one of the upcoming videos in our 4 part video series with the men who will be representing our community on Mark Burnett’s Expedition Impossible which will premiere June 23 at 9PM.

“Sometimes we do a thing in order to find out the reason for it. Sometimes our actions are questions not answers.”
David John Moore Cornwell, (John Le Carre 1931 – ) Magnus Pym in "A Perfect Spy"
LeCarre’s espionage novels defined the moral ambiguity of the cold war for many readers. His best known work, The Spy Who Came in from the Cold, and many of his later novels are semi-autobiographical, exposing the difficulties of growing up with a con-man father, and LeCarre’s service in MI-5 and MI-6. His themes often revolve around the nature of secrets and the destructive force they wield on their holders. In recent years, Le Carre’s opposition to the Iraq War and the Bush administration has returned him to the public eye, although he is said to be writing still in his eightieth year.

Time for a throwdown!
Who says bluefish are oily? Not me! Gut and bleed blues in the boat and you’ve got the best-tasting fillets ever.
Check out the red and pink dots and lateral line in this one-day old catch ready for the grill
I don’t know about the best tasting fillets ever. I can name about 5 fish fillets off the top of my head I’d rather eat.
My top 5-
- Grey Sole
- Yellowtail Flounder
- Ocean Catfish
On Monday, June 13th at 8:00 pm mentalist Davis Viera will perform his comedy mentalism show at the Gorton Theatre, home of the Gloucester Stage Company, 267 East Main Street, Gloucester. Tickets are $20-$25 and available by calling The Gloucester Stage Company Box Office at (978) 281-4433 or visiting www.gloucesterstage.org. Mr. Viera was recently named the “2010 Top Mentalist in North America” by GigMasters.com known as The Amazon.com for entertainers. “It’s quite an honor for me. There were almost 500 other mentalists in the running. Many of them are great mentalists who I look up to – Including the inspiration for Simon Baker’s television character in The Mentalist.”
Mr. Viera, a Taunton, MA resident doesn’t claim to be psychic. “I don’t read minds, I read people,” says Viera. “I simulate real mind reading by reading body language and non-verbal cues, by using subliminal influence, psychological suggestion, and perceptual manipulation to achieve what looks like genuine mind reading. It’s not psychic, but it’s as close as you could ever get.” By simply studying an audience member’s non-verbal communication (body language, facial expressions, eye movement, etc.) Davis can intuit numbers, words, or even pictures that exist only in audience member’s minds. Mr. Viera shows the difference between perception and reality by influencing an audience member’s perception of an event. Everyone clearly sees one thing, yet the volunteer experiences something completely different! He can also predict any newspaper headline weeks or even months in advance with incredible accuracy.
Mr. Viera, who is working on a television show of his own, will put his unique brand of award-winning mentalism combined with his quick wit on full-display on Monday, June 13 in Gloucester. He’ll determine the thoughts of random audience volunteers, he’ll quickly memorize entire magazine issues, and he’ll humorously solve a CSI-style murder mystery in a way that gets him standing ovations across the country.
Comedy Mentalist Davis Viera presents this mind-blowing entertainment event at The Gorton Theatre, home of the Gloucester Stage Company, 267 East Main Street Gloucester, MA. Doors open at 7:30 pm and show starts at 8:00 pm. Tickets are $20-$25 and are available by calling The Gloucester Stage Company Box Office at (978) 281-4433 or visiting http://www.gloucesterstage.org.

This film hit the theaters last week – so this item is HOT.
